Centric premium rotors utilize an Electrocoating finish that provides long lasting corrosion protection. E-coating is a superior electro-statically applied finish designed to withstand 400 hours of salt water exposure without rusting.
- Double Disc Ground - Centric premium rotors feature a double disc ground, taper free finish. Double disc grinding ensures parallelism, eliminates run out and provides near perfect disc thickness variation (DTV). Double disc grinding leaves a non-directional finish on the friction surface area for more effective pad-rotor break in. This special finish also provides quieter and smoother stops.
- Machined Finishes - Centric premium rotors feature 100% fully machined finishes on all critical and friction surfaces. This extra process provides better rotor balance and creates a cleaner, more finished looking component.
- Split Castings - Center-split core castings provide proper heat transfer and thermal efficiency, resulting in superior braking power and safety.
- Mill Balancing - Centric Premium brake rotors are mill balanced to a tolerance of less than 2oz. per inch. This additional machining operation reduces feedback associated with rotor vibration and provides a smooth confident application of braking force.
What is Cryogenic Treatment?
Cryogenic treatment is a one-time stress relief process that involves both cold and heat cycling of the brake rotor. Using a proprietary computer-controlled process over a 24-hour period, the cryo machine gradually cools the rotors down to -300 º F, then gradually brings them up to over +300º F, and finally back to room temperature. This conditioning of the rotor improves its service life, especially in fleet and emergency vehicle applications.
Installation Tips - Always replace Brake Pads and inspect Calipers and Brake Hoses when installing new rotors
- Suspend the caliper from the suspension using a Caliper Hanger to prevent damage to the brake hose
- After removing the old rotor, clean the hub face with a Wire Brush to remove rust buildup and apply Copper Anti Seize to prevent future buildup. Rust or debris on the hub can cause rotor runout and lead to wheel vibration
- Apply Brake Lube to caliper pins, clips, the edges of the brake pad mounting tabs, and the back side of the brake pads to ensure noise free braking. DO NOT apply lube to the friction side of the brake pads
- Use a Caliper Piston Compressor to retract the caliper piston(s) and make room for the new, thicker brake pads
- Open the master cylinder reservoir during piston compression to prevent pressure buildup. Keep an eye on the Brake Fluid level to ensure it does not overflow
- After the job is complete, pump the brake pedal several times to push the caliper piston back up against the pads to ensure proper brake function
