Features & Benefits:- Direct-fit replacement for ease of installation
- High-quality materials ensure durability
- Tested for performance and reliability
- As a global manufacturer, they maintain complete quality control throughout the manufacturing process
Two or Four Mounting Holes? Standard® RU571T and RU371T are used on the same vehicles, with respect to year, make and model. To make things more complex, the Standard® RU571T requires the original resistor mounting plate be discarded and the replacement unit bolt directly to the blower case. The GM replacement resistor is not the same as the OE part. Use the information below to help decide which resistor each vehicle requires.
Standard® RU571T (GM 89019088)- Discard the existing mounting plate to install the replacement unit
- Mount this resistor directly to the blower case
- This resistor has 4 mounting holes
- In most cases, vehicles without a console will use the RU571T
Standard® RU371T (GM 89019089)- This resistor mounts with no modifications
- It has 2 mounting holes
- In most cases, vehicles with a console will use the RU371T
Replace the Connector:
GM Technical Service Bulletin 05-01-38-012C concerns the failure of the OE blower motor resistor and the subsequent damage to the vehicle harness connector. This TSB recommends replacement of the vehicle harness pigtail when replacing the blower motor resistor. SMP offers this replacement pigtail as Standard® S916.
Is it the Blower Motor or Blower Motor Control Module / Resistor? The Blower Motor Control Module / Resistor controls the fan speed of the Blower Motor. When it fails, it can cause the Blower Motor to stop working and can cause confusion on which part is faulty.
Blower Motor |
Signs of Failure:- Weak Airflow from Vents
- Unusual Noises or Vibrations When Blower Is Turned On
|
Blower Motor Control Module / Resistor |
Signs of Failure:- No Airflow from Vents
- Blows Air at Only One Speed
