EPDM belts, installed by original equipment manufacturers on new vehicles since the late 1990's, typically do not show
obvious signs of wear, as with Neoprene belts. Cracks and chuck-outs rarely occur, so it is necessary to evaluate belt
wear differently. Like tires, EPDM belts wear our gradually, steadily losing rubber material.
Service Tip: Always replace belts and tensioners together. Old tensioners will reduce a belt's lifespan, and can lead to issues such as overheating, a dead battery, diminished power steering, or poor air conditioning performance.
