Crownvic.net (CVN)
is a forum dedicated to owners
and enthusiasts
of the Ford Crown Victoria and its
siblings, the Mercury Grand Marquis & Marauder
and the Lincoln Town Car.
CVN contains a wealth of information
geared to all levels of ability on
general maintenance, service and
repairs, and performance modifications.
We are especially proud of our "Body
of Knowledge," which is a compilation
of platform specific "How-To" articles
written by CVN's members. There are
regional forums where members talk
about local happenings and set up
meets. CVN has organized several
pilgrimages to the assembly plant
in St. Thomas, Ontario, Canada, and
we have also had a CVN tent at the
All-Fords Nationals at Carlisle,
Pennsylvania for the past few years.
Like any automotive forum, Crownvic.net
also has sections specifically for
off-topic discussions that have nothing
to do with cars. Although those discussions
can become heated at times, we have
a lot of fun. Crownvic.net is as
much about the people and personalities
as it is about the cars.
Crownvic.net recently
celebrated its 9th anniversary on
the Internet. CVN is proud to have
been associated with RockAuto for
nearly three years!

Repair Mistakes & Blunders |
|
My
first job was working in a service
station in Michigan. This was in
the late 60s and my job was to pump
gas and do oil changes. My dad always
changed his own oil but since his
son now worked at a service station,
he thought he would be supportive
and bring it into the station so
I could change it. I drained the
oil, changed the filter and then
drove it out of the bay and called
my dad
telling him his car was ready.
He went
out to get his car, but then
came back in and said that the ‘OIL’ light
was on and the engine was a bit
noisy. I went to the car, popped
the hood, and stood there looking
at the
engine wondering what could have
went wrong. My dad walks up and says “You
did put oil in it, didn’t you?”.
Even though I was positive I did,
I pulled the dipstick and
checked anyway...No Oil! I quickly
pulled the car back into the service
bay and filled up the engine with
oil. I don’t
believe my boss ever knew what I
did, I never said anything, and I
am sure my dad didn’t want
to tell him either.
I have never had the nerve to ask
my dad what was going through his
mind at that time and we have never
spoken of it since.

Paul's 1972 Buick Riviera |
|
Hi
there!
I have a 1972 Buick Riviera with
a black interior, exterior, and vinyl
roof as my daily driver over here
in the UK. It is one of only 375
to have black exterior and a vinyl
top from the factory.
I was getting
the car ready to be the ‘wedding car’ for
my brother-in-law’s and when
I tried to replace the 36 year old,
perished PCV valve grommet, it shattered
and dropped in the intake manifold
in pieces! I had to remove the manifold
and get all the bits out. The replacement
valve and grommet both came from
RockAuto! If it was not for RockAuto’s
fast delivery the car would not have
had a replacement gasket in time,
and it would not have been fit for
the 400 mile drive down to Newquay
for their wedding. So thank you!
I always use
RockAuto as they get parts to me
faster than an UK company
would! Everyone finds it amazing
I can get parts so fast (two days
after ordering is excellent when
you consider it has to travel so
far)! I have bought all sorts of
parts including a new fan clutch,
water pump, windshield washer unit,
oil filters, bulbs, bushings, relays,
wipers, hoses, gaskets, grommets,
valves. Anything I haven’t
already bought...I’ll probably
be buying soon!
The car has also been in a movie
called Birthday which looks like
it may become a Hammer Films production
(the people who did the original
Wicker Man, Dracula, Frankenstein
etc.)! This picture was taken on
set.
Keep up the good work!
Thanks,
Paul in the United Kingdom |
